Worcester, Mass. – Playing their first home games of the 2015 season, Clark University ran into a Springfield College lineup that collected 25 hits and won both games of their NEWMAC doubleheader, 9-0 and 7-1 on Friday afternoon at O'Brien Field.

With the win the Pride snap their brief two-game losing streak to improve to 9-13 overall but an impressive 7-3 in conference contests, while the Cougars slip to 2-14 while remaining winless in leagues at 0-6.

Game 1: Springfield 9, Clark 0

Melissa Nelson sparked the Pride offense in the opener, scoring on a wild pitch in the first and then driving in a pair of runs in the second with a two-run single.

Ahead 3-0, Springfield pushed across six runs in the fourth to take total control of the contest. Liz Finnelli, Jenna Webb and Kristen Drobiak all had run scoring hits to highlight the offensive uprising.

Meanwhile in the circle, Talia Loda and Jordyn Moquin held the Cougars to a Melanie Dusseault (Auburn, N.H.) leadoff single in the third – one of only two baserunners for the Scarlet and White in the game.

Game 2: Springfield 7, Clark 1

In the nightcap, Nelson and Webb each had three hits as the Pride completed the doubleheader sweep.

A trio of Springfield hurlers – Nicole Cring, Camdyn Morgillo and Moquin combined to handcuff the Cougars, allowing just four hits.

Ahead 2-1 in the fourth, Springfield plated four runs in the frame on a Nelson RBI double, a Carianna Gasdia bunt single, a Webb sing and a Drobiak groundout.

Clark's lone run of the two games came off the bat of Alyssa Wright (Manchester, N.H.), who drove home Hayley Buckheit (Camden Hills, Maine) on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the third.

Buckheit took the loss for the Cougars, tossing the first three innings before giving way to Brenna Foley (Charlton, Mass.) who went the final four.
