Worcester, Mass. – Jacob Mason scored the match's lone goal in the 108th minute and visiting Eastern Nazarene escaped with a thrilling 1-0 win over Clark University in non-league men's soccer action on Wednesday evening at the Granger Soccer Complex.

The win for the Lions bumps their record to 4-1 overall, while the Cougars have gone three straight contests without a goal and now stand at 2-3-1.

Clark actually had a golden chance to win the game in the second overtime when Matt Sherman (Rockville, Md.) was taken down making a move inside the box and the Scarlet and White were awarded a penalty kick.

Pirro Tomco (Worcester, Mass.), however, saw his low shot to the left corner denied by Eastern Nazarene backstop Jameson McFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.).

The Cougars worked a corner kick out of it though, but Tomco's kick was punched out of the box by McFarland and a full field race was on between the Lions' Andrew Nelson (Burtonsville, Md.) and a trio of Clark defenders. Nelson made it over midfield before Sherman was able to poke the ball away from him. Erick Pinaud (Norwalk, Conn.), however, was trailing the play and scooped up the loose ball, cut between two defenders and fed Nelson, who dribbled in from the right flank on Alistair Richardson (Tolland, Conn.). Nelson then sent a pass across the goal mouth to the sliding Mason for the game winner at 107:28.

Clark held a 23-13 edge in shots for the match and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

McFarland turned aside nine shots in picking up the win for Eastern Nazarene, while Richardson was solid for the hosts, making five saves.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday with conference contests. The Lions visit Roger Williams, while the Cougars welcome WPI for the NEWMAC opener.
