Worcester, Mass.- Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) notched a match-best 12 kills on her way to becoming the school's all-time leader in kills as Clark University traveled down Park Avenue and earned a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-16) victory over WPI in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference volleyball action on Tuesday night.

Ramos moved ahead of former teammate Shannon Glass-Smythe who established the previous mark of 1,058 kills in last season's NEWMAC Championship match. Now with 1,064, Ramos has a chance to build on her totals with at least two more matches remaining this season and her entire senior season ahead of her in 2017.

How It Happened:
The first and third sets were all Clark while the middle frame was very entertaining. With the set tied 15-15, junior Brooke Klepper (Miami Beach, Fla.), aided by back-to-back kills by Casey Hunt (Granby, Conn.), served up five points to give the hosts the 20-15 lead. Clark and Ramos then swung the momentum back and rattled off ten of the last 13 points in the stanza.

The opener saw the Cougars build an 11-3 advantage and, despite small runs by WPI, never looked back. Clark led by ten (23-13) late in the third before the two sides traded points until a serving miscue concluded the set and match.

Jacqueline Jimenez-Maldonado (San Francisco, Calif.) registered eight kills and six digs to go with 16 digs by Mia Cattaneo (Santa Barbara, Calif.). Sophomore Rachel Webb (Celina, Texas) earned match-high honors with 28 assists and Courtney Pharr (Seattle, Wash.) served up four of the Cougars nine aces and tallied four block assists.

"We played a strong team and it was a great environment for a volleyball game," said Clark University head coach Mickey Cahoon. "Our confidence was a big difference maker." 

Don't Forget About Me:
Webb, meanwhile, is closing in on a record of her own. With 937 assists this season, she is just seven helpers shy of passing Kate Weiss for the most assists in a single season. Less than two seasons into her career with the Cougars, Webb is already fourth on the school's all-time assist list (1,839) and is more than half way to the career mark also held by Weiss (3,073).

Clark will wrap up its regular season on Saturday with a home contest against Emerson College. First serve is slated for just after 1:00 p.m.
