Altamonte Springs, Fla. - The 36th-ranked Coe College men's tennis team ran its winning streak to 10 matches on Sunday, as the Kohawks topped Clark University, 8-1 at Sanlando Park.
Coe took a 2-1 lead after doubles play against the Cougars beginning with No. 1 doubles where Riley Galbraith and Josh Pudlo beat Fernando Pinoargote (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Spencer Pinkney (Falmouth, Mass.), 8-3. The second doubles win came at number three, as Alex Bernt and Chad Moklestad downed Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Mateo Gomez (Bogota, Colombia), 8-0.
Clark answered back with its only point of the match as Andrey Samodaev (Boca Raton, Fla.) Teodor Nicola-Antoniu (Bucharest, Romania) edged past Mark Kroll and Zack Decker, 8-6 at No. 2.
Bernt opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Samodaev at No. 1 and Nate Ackert picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Pinoargote at number two, while Evgeny Pakohomekno downed Pinkney 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3.
At number four singles, Decker earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sigel, while Pudlo picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nicola-Antoniu at number five singles.
The last singles win came from Moklestad, as he beat Ian Levy (Needham, Mass.) 6-0, 6-1 at six.
Clark will look to get back in the win column on Monday when they face Wheaton (Ill.).
