Thunder Strike Early, Take Down Cougars, 9-0

Sanford, Fla. – Wheaton (Illinois) College used a doubles sweep to propel themselves to a decisive 9-0 win over Clark University in non-league men's tennis action on Monday morning at Sylvan Lake Park in suburban Orlando.

The Thunder only lost six points total in doubles action where their stiffest competition came at No. 3 where Jimmy Keogh (Worcester, Mass.) and Teodor Nicola-Antoniu (Bucharest, Romania) were bested by Karl Wetzel and Josh Cheng.

In singles action, Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) put up the toughest fight at No. 2 singles where he eventually fell, 6-4, 6-2 to Dave Paulson. Meanwhile, Keogh was the only other player not to be blanked in a set but he was downed 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 by Cheng.

Clark, who has now dropped five straight matches, looks to get back on track when they face Moravian College on Tuesday at Red Bug Lake Park.
