Casselberry, Fla. – Keyed by a pair of wins in doubles play, Clark University got its first win on their Spring Break trip, topping Moravian College, 6-3, on Tuesday morning at Red Bug State Park.
The win for the Cougars snaps a five match losing streak and sends their record to 2-6 overall.
Teodor Nicola-Antoniu (Bucharest, Romania) and Spencer Pinkney (Falmouth, Mass.) teamed up to get an 8-3 win at No. 2, which was followed by Mateo Gomez (Bogota, Colombia) and Ian Levy (Needham, Mass.) getting an 8-5 victory at No. 3.
Singles action kicked off with an easy 6-1, 6-0 win for Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) at No. 3 and Nicola-Antoniu breezing to a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 4.
Gomez had to work some to get his win at No. 5, 7-5, 6-2 as did Pinkney at No. 2, 6-3, 7-5.
Clark is back in action with a twinbill on Thursday when they face New England rival Regis College at 8:00 a.m., before wrapping up the day against Ohio Wesleyan.
