Cougars Defeat NEWMAC Foe Emerson

Winchester, MA...The Clark University men's tennis team won a New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match against Emerson 7-2 on Friday afternoon. The Cougars claimed two of three points in doubles action and five of six points in singles.

First-year Barun Gil (Union City, Calif.) and sophomore Audrey Samodaev (Boca Raton, Fla) claimed a point at number one doubles (8-4) and junior Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) and sophomore Ian Levy (Needham, Mass.) won at number three doubles (8-3) to take a 2-1 lead into singles.

Gil continued his impressive rookie campaign with a 6-3,6-0 win at number one singles and improved to 8-4 on the year. Sophomore Teodor Nicola Antoniu (Bucharest, Romania) won at nunber three singles, 6-3, 6-3. 

Siegel continued the dominat singles performance for the Cougars with a 6-4,6-3 win at number four singles. Levy had a convincing 6-0,6-0 win at number five singles and senior Jimmy Keogh (Worcester, Mass.) finished off the scoring at number six singles, 6-4, 6-2.

The Cougars are back in action on Saturday against NEWMAC opponent MIT. Emerson will face Coast Guard on Saturday in NEWMAC action.
