-The Lead: The Clark University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with the Bears of Coast Guard Academy in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Senior Patrick Palermo-Re (Manassas, Va.) found the back of the net in the 53rd minute with classmate Noah Harper (Deland, Fla.) assisting as the Bears took a 1-0 lead.
-Clark would tie the game in the 73rd minute as freshman Connor Ross (Atkinson, N.H.) finished off a rebound to tie the game 1-1.
-Each team had a great opportunity in the first half as the Coast Guard senior Alex Hall (Merritt Island, Fla.) blasted a shot off the right post in the 21st minutes while the Cougars best chance came on a shot from point blank range from junior Charlie Lane (Southborough, Mass.) with a great save from junior Dakota Harich (New Market, Md.) in the 23rd minute.
-Clark junior Jonathan Guilherme (Oxford, Conn.) had a great look with 2:22 left in regulation, but Harich again came up big to send the game to overtime.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Harich (3-4-2) finished with eight saves for Coast Guard while sophomore Marco White (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) (3-1-1) had nine saves in goal for Clark.
-The Cougars held a slight 18-17 edge in shots.
