-The Lead: The Clark University men's tennis team defeated the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University (JWU) on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Cougars swept doubles play with three 8-1 decisions. Sophomore Jose Dalla-Valle (Miami, Fla.) and first year Max Schweitzer (West Hartford, Conn.) took down Alexander Rohana and Franz Fonck at No. 1 doubles. Senior Jacob Malicky (South Egremont, Mass.) and junior Alex Hattenbach (Wilton, Conn.) defeated JWU's Will Lyons and Steven Heizler at No. 2 doubles and senior Ian Levy (Needham, Mass.) and sophomore Duncan Drapeau (Boothbay, Maine) cruised to victory over Robert Michalofsky and Brandon Case at No. 3 doubles.
-The Wildcats took their two victories of the day at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Fonck defeated Hattenbach, 6-4, 5-7, and 10-7. Heizler took down Levy, 5-7, 6-2, 12-10.
-Dalla Valle recorded a win at No. 1 singles over Lyons, 6-3, 6-3. Schweitzer nearly shutout Rohana , 6-1, 6-1 while Malicky picked up 6-0 and 6-1 victories. Podolsky earned a victory for Clark at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-4.
