-The Lead: The Clark University men's tennis team fell to Vassar College in their first match of the Spring season on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Juniors Allen Sokolov (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and Jeremy Auh (Scottsdale, Ariz.) defeated Clark's Nicholas Mathieu (Topsham, Maine) and Christian Ruebens (Cheshire, Conn.) at No. 1 doubles 8-5.
-Sophomore Nick Damaria (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and senior Jamie Anderson (Constantine, KY) picked up an 8-3 victory over first year Max Schweitzer (West Hartford, Conn.) and senior Jacob Malicky (South Egremont, Mass.) at No. 3 dounbles.
-Sophomores Adam Krueger (Bay Village, Ohio) and David Gandham (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished the sweep for Vassar with an 8-5 victory over senior Andrey Samodaev (Boca Raton, Fla.) and junior Jack Han (Bakersfield, Calif.) at No. 2 doubles.
-Mathieu went three sets with Gandham at No. 1 singles before falling 3-6, 6-2, 7-6.
-Mat Yee (Sha Tin, Hong Kong) took a victory over Schweitzer at No. 2 singles , 6-4 and 6-3.
-Anderson took two over Ruebens at No. 3 singles, 6-2,6-2 and Krueger shut out Han in the first set at No. 4 singles, 6-0 and took the second set 6-1.
-Sokolov posted the same scores over Samodaev at No. 5 singles before Auh finished the sweep with scores of 7-5 and 6-1 over Alex Hattenbach (Wilton, Conn.) at No. 6 singles.
UP NEXT
-The Cougars travel to Florida for Spring Break and will take on Birmingham Southern on Saturday, March 2nd.
-Vassar travels to California the first week of March and will take on Caltech on Sunday, March 10th.
