EASTON, Mass. – The Clark University men's tennis team opened up their spring season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Stonehill College in a 6-1 decision inside the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex.

How it Happened
The Cougars were swept in the doubles portion of the match with the No. 1 doubles team of Christian Ruebens (Cheshire, Conn.) and Dariy Vykhodtsev (Saco, Maine) and the No. 2 doubles team of Nicholas Mathieu (Topham, Mass.) and Max Schweitzer (West Hartford, Conn.) dropping 6-2 and 6-1 respective scores.
The closest match came at No. 3 doubles with seniors Alex Han (Bakersfield, Calif.) and Alex Hattenbach (Wilton, Conn.) pushing Juan Riano Rojas and Manu Ravichandrakumar to a 6-4 match before ultimately falling.
In singles, the Cougars notched their first point of the match at the No. 1 spot as Mathieu battled back from a one-set deficit, forcing a third set with a 6-4 win and then sealing the point in the deciding set with a 10-8 result.
Stonehill sealed the match at No. 5 singles as Rojas defeated Han in 6-2, 6-2 set scores to seal up the win for the host Skyhawks. Rubens and Schweitzer each battled in their singles matches, being defeated by respective 6-3, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-1 set scores.
