Clark softball had a pair of 8-0 losses to Babson on Saturday. The final home game served as a senior day for graduate student Christian Kopacz (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) and seniors
Isabella DiOrio (Lincoln, R.I.), and
Francesca Cocca (Tewksbury, Mass.). After a brief senior day presentation, the games began.
Game one saw the Beavers of Babson get off to a hot start. The early runs turned into four when Babson's third baseman Sam Burggraf doubled in a pair for the Beavers. After the first two inning, Di'Orio, one the mound for the Cougars, settled in nicely with scoreless third and fourth innings. But the Cougars couldn't get enough offense going. Beaver's pitcher, Brooke Stock, pitched a gem, throwing five innings of one hit ball while striking out 10 in the process.
Game two saw sophomore
Nicole Buckley (Hazlet, N.J.) making her fourth career start for the Cougars opposite Logan McDonald on the hill for the Beavers. The Beavers would once again strike early, this time with a solo shot from second baseman Lexi Morris. From here the Beavers were able to evenly spaced out their runs, scoring two runs in four separate innings. Clark pitcher's Bucklet and sophomore
Jessica Sardilli (Farmington, Conn.) did a good job stranding Babson hitters on base, and Sardilli did have a strike out in the effort.
On the other side, Babson once again had effective pitching, with McDonald throwing four innings of one hit ball, before reliever Nicole Sestito came in to pitch two shutout innings to close out the game. Restrepo-Stier once again had a single, and junior
Jessica Martin (Winthrop, Mass.) had a double to help the Cougars. Additionally, sophomore
Kaitlin Fraga (Essex, Mass.) had her first career hit for the Cougars.
