Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Clark University softball team closed out its 2021 season by dropping a non-league doubleheader decision to Babson Sunday afternoon at O'Brien Field. The Beavers recorded an 8-0 opening game victory before taking a 4-1 decision in the nightcap to sweep the four-game weekend series between the two schools.
Graduate Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, Mass.) helped her own cause in the lid-lifter for Babson (11-1) by rapping out four hits (including a homer) and driving in four runs at the plate, and inside the circle she fanned 12 to improve to 7-0 on the spring. Junior Isabel Aguilar (Avon, Conn.) and sophomore Lexi Morris (Lexington, Mass.) each added two hits in the first contest for the Beavers.
Graduate Christina Kopacz (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) collected a single in the opening outing for the Cougars, as sophomore Jessica Sardilli (Farmington, Conn.) suffered the setback after going the first 2 2/3 innings inside the circle for the hosts.
Aguilar accounted for three more hits in the nightcap triumph for the visitors, who received a two-run double from sophomore Audrey Labouliere (Pipersville, Pa.) along with two more hits from Morris. Junior Logan McDonald (Wilmington, Mass.) struck out four in going the distance for Babson to improve to 2-0 on the season.
First-year Rebecca Mauro (Easton, Conn.) rapped out two hits (including a double) in the second game for Clark, which received a seventh inning RBI single off the bat of sophomore Samantha Restrepo-Stier (Davie, Fla.). Juniors Jessica Martin (Winthrop, Mass.) and Francesca Cirone (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added singles for the Cougars, as senior Isabella DiOrio (Lincoln, R.I.) went the route and struck out one in suffering the setback.
Clark finishes the 2021 campaign at 0-8 overall.
