Men's Soccer Falls to Roger Williams on Sunday

Bristol, R.I.- Clark men's soccer (4-2-0) saw their three-game win streak come to a halt Sunday afternoon against Roger Williams (1-2-2), in a 3-0 loss from Bayside Field.

John Fogarty's early goal set the Hawks up for success, while teammates Matt Bagley and Geno Kennedy helped the cause with goals of their own. Goalie Jack Avellar recorded a shutout in the match.

How it Happened

  • Roger Williams got off to an early lead when first year John Fogarty scored with Jack Wetzel assisting on the play.
  • Clark senior Derek Jones nearly evened the score, but his shot on goal was saved by RWU's Jack Avellar.
  • The Hawks doubled their lead in the 12th minute when Matt Bagley scored his third goal of the season. Bagley was assisted by Jack Wildermann.
  • Senior Brian Brennan put up a good shot for Clark in the 17th, but once again Avellar stopped the shot.
  • In the 30th minute Clark junior goalie Caleb Rosenthal-Vincenti made a good save on a shot by Sebastian Headrick.
  • RWU made it a 3-0 game in the 39th minute when Geno Kennedy scored his first goal of the year with Zajdele Dulcine recording the assist on the play
  • Sophomore Teddy Donahue attempted a shot on goal for Clark in the 57th minute, saved by Avellar.
  • Clark got off multiple shots in the final minute of action, but couldn't put any past Avellar.

  • The Cougars outshot the Hawks 22 to 14, with 14 shots on goal to RWU's seven.
  • The Hawks committed 15 fouls, by contrast Clark only committed six.
