Box Score WALTHAM, Mass.- Clark University men's soccer (5-5-1) dropped a back-and-forth affair by a 2-1 margin, to Brandeis University (3-4-1) in a non-conference matchup at Gordon Field on Wednesday evening.
Senior Brian Brennan scored the lone goal for the Cougars in the 38th minute. Sophomore Andrew DiStefano recorded two saves on the night.
How it Happened
- Brandeis took an early lead when first-year John Loo scored with sophomore Max Harowitz assisting on the play.
- The Cougars got their first look at the goal in the 30th minute when first-year William Lopez launched a shot just over the crossbar.
- Clark nearly evened the score in the 35th minute when sophomore Teddy Donahue got a nice look at the goal, but the shot was saved by the Judges' keeper junior, Aiden Guthro.
- The Judges' backline had a miscommunication on a goal kick in the 38th minute, and Brennan with a great heads up play, stole the ball away in the six yard box and buried a shot behind Brandeis' Gunthro to even the game at one a piece.
- In the 49th minute, Brandeis broke the tie after senior Evan Glass scored off the rebound of a free kick that hit the post.
- 65 minutes into the match, Clark looked to even the score with Lopez placing a cross in the box where it found Donahue who sent the ball just north of the crossbar.
- In the 70th minute, Clark got their final shot to tie it up when graduate student Patrick Clark got the ball on the left hand side of the box and sent the ball just wide of the post.
