WORCESTER, Mass.- Clark men's tennis (1-1) fell to Division II Stonehill (3-0) on Thursday at the Corash Tennis Courts.
Junior Dariy Vykhodtsev was the standout for the Cougars, with wins at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with Sam Pomann.
Doubles
• At No. 3 doubles Clark graduate students Duncan Drapeau and Holden Moore were bested by the Skyhawks.
• First-years Ryan Hovey and Aidan Hurtado fought hard for the Cougars but lost 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
•Vykhodtsev and Pomann had a back and forth battle at No. 1 doubles. Despite facing two match points against them, the duo battle back and stayed calm, forcing a tiebreak at 7-7. From there Vykhodtsev's volleys and overheads coupled with Pomann's groundstrokes lead the team to win the final seven points of the match.
Singles
• The Skyhawks extended their lead to 4-1 with wins over graduate student Josh Podolsky and junior Joshua Ofosu-Amoani at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
• Stonehill clinched the match with a win at No. 3 singles. Hovey played well for the Cougars despite the 6-2, 6-1 scoreline.
•Hurtado and Pomann both fell in their matches at No. 5 and No, 2 singles, bringing the match to 7-1.
•Vykhodtsev won a strong 6-2 first set over Stonehill, before dropping the second set 4-6. In a heart-stopping tiebreak that saw several lead changes, Vykhodtsev was able to use his offensive weapons to his advantage, ultimately winning 11-9 on a well-placed volley.

The Cougars will wrap up their fall season next Friday when they take on Eastern Nazarene. The match will take place on the Corash Tennis Courts and begins at 3:30
