Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (2-12-1, 0-5-0 NEWMAC) battled Emerson (8-1-5, 3-1-1 NEWMAC) for 90 minutes and were tied at the half, but the Lions came away with a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon from Rotch Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Ezekiel Palmer nearly got Clark on the board in the second minute of play, but Ethan Fitzsimmons made a play on the ball and recorded the save.
- The Cougars then created another scoring opportunity in the 14th minute with a shot on target from sophomore Colin Ruiz that was saved and Clark earned a pair of corners within the first 14 minutes of play.
- First-year Diego Marin recorded his first save of the match in the 20th minute and Marin's save went down as the final shot on goal of the half as the teams entered the half tied at 0-0.
- Marin registered a pair of critical saves early in the second half as Skyler Stark and Gabe Rich created chances that he kept out of the net.
- Sophomore Tyler Manley put a shot on target in the 66th minute that was saved by Fitzsimmons and the Lions took a 1-0 edge in the 69th minute on a goal from Rich.
- First-year Ben Siegel created Clark's final chance on goal in the 80th minute, but again Fitzsimmons came away with a 1-0 win.
