Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (2-13-1, 0-6-0 NEWMAC) traveled to Springfield (3-9-2, 2-4-0 NEWMAC) for their final road match of the season and fell 4-1 to the Pride on Saturday afternoon from Brock-Affleck Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Andrew DiStefano recorded his first save of the match off a header shot from Brad Bornn in the 10th minute and Clark's defense kept the Pride without another shot on target until the 35th minute when Parker Thornton found the back of the net.
- Thornton then had a shot saved by DiStefano and the Pride pushed their advantage to 2-0 in the 37th minute off a shot from Jack Rosenberg.
- Sophomore William Lopez had a shot stopped by Clayton Knibbs in the 40th minute and the Cougars then cut the lead in half at 2-1 in the 42nd minute when first-year Luke Sheldon scored off a pass from junior Teddy Donahue.
- Sophomore Zachary Kratz and first-year Ben Siegel both created chances early in the second half that were saved by Knibbs.
- DiStefano recorded another save in the 57th minute and off a corner that was serviced in by first-year Mauro Perez Colon, sophomore Luke Thomas had a shot stopped by Knibbs.
- After Matthew Mela extended the lead to 3-1, Lopez fired a shot on goal in the 75th minute that was saved and the Pride added one more goal before the end of the match.
