- Junior Andrew DiStefano recorded a save in the third minute on a shot from Aaron Vaz before the Cougars got shots on goal from junior Anyolo Makatiani and senior Connor Fitzgerald each put shots on target that were saved by Roe Hendrick as both teams created chances early.
- Sophomore William Lopez fired a shot on target in the 23rd minute that was saved by Hendrick and first-year Mauro Perez Colon had his shot saved in the 37th minute.
- DiStefano recorded a pair of saves on headers from the Engineers as the game was 0-0 at the break.
- The Engineers took a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute off a penalty shot from Vaz.
- Makatiani nearly tied the game at 1-1 in the 60th minute, but had his shot saved before WPI added to their lead with a goal from Luke Savoie.
- First-year Luke Sheldon fired a shot on goal that was saved in the 70th minute and the Engineers added two more goals at the end of the game.
