WORCESTER, Mass.- Clark (1-4) fell to Division II Assumption (2-0) 5-2 on Saturday at the Assumption Tennis Courts.
Doubles
• Clark fell quickly at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Junior Sam Pomann and first-year Aidan Hurtado played No. 2 for the scarlet and white while graduate students Josh Podolsky and Duncan Drapeau played No. 3.
• At No. 1 doubles Clark's duo of graduate student Chris Rübens and junior Dariy Vykhodtsev teamed up for the first time this season, following multiple successful runs in the past. Despite some nerve-racking moments, the duo's chemistry and big points in high-pressure situations shined in the tiebreaker as the team won 7-6(5).
Singles
• Rübens and Vykhodtsev both fell in singles despite many strong rallies to a pair of consistent players for the Greyhounds.
• Pomann brought the score back to 3-1 in favor of Assumption with a consistent 6-1, 6-4 win for Clark at No. 6 singles.
• Junior Max Schweitzer and sophomore Tanner Honnef both had good moments at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, but neither ultimately won, sealing the win for Assumption.
• At No. 5 singles, first-year Ryan Hovey jumped out to an early lead, and won the first set 7-5. Despite a late comeback by his opponent in the second set tiebreaker, Hovey buckled down and took the third set tiebreaker 10-7 to give the scarlet and white the final point of the day.
