Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (4-8, 0-6 NEWMAC) met the Engineers of MIT (18-4, 4-0 NEWMAC) at O'Brien Softball Field on Sunday and fell to the Engineers in both contests of the doubleheader.
Clark fell 7-2 in game one and 11-0 in game two.
Game One: MIT 7, Clark 2

Junior Nicole Buckley took the mound in game one against MIT and threw three scoreless innings before the Engineers registered four runs in the top of the fourth.

Clark got their offense started in the bottom of the fifth when senior Kaylee Gibson singled up the middle and advanced to second on wild pitch. Junior Eliza Lindberg stepped up to the plate and ripped a single to left field, scoring teammate Gibson.

The Cougars held the Engineers to a scoreless inning in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, Clark brought the run to a two-run game when Buckley sent a sacrifice fly to the outfield, allowing senior Francesca Cirone to score from third.

MIT scored three runs in the top of the seventh. The red and white tried to rally a comeback in the bottom of the seventh with another Lindberg single before being left on base. Clark fell 7-2.
Game Two: MIT 11, Clark 0

Senior Kaylee Gibson took the mound in game two and pitched a great first three innings giving up only one run in the top of the second.

The Cougars were the first to get on base in the bottom of the first when sophomore Samantha Crowley reached first after an interference call with MIT's catcher. Crowley was able to move into scoring position with a passed ball but was left on base.

The Engineers woke up their offense in the fourth and fifth innings scoring a combined ten runs. Behind a no-hitter from MIT pitcher Becca O'Connor, Clark fell 11-0 in the second game of the double header.
What's Next
Clark looks to bounce back on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader when they welcome the Bison of Nichols College to O'Brien Field at 3:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m.
