WORCESTER, Mass.- On Tuesday No. 25 Babson (8-3, 1-0 NEWMAC) handed a 9-0 loss to Clark (2-7, 0-2 NEWMAC) who had competitive matches at No.1 doubles and No. 3 singles.
Doubles
• Junior Sam Pomann and sophomore Tanner Honnef were defeated to give Babson their first point at No. 2 doubles.
• First-years Ryan Hovey and Aidan Hurtado took a few games in an 8-3 loss at No. 3 doubles.
• The closest match of the day came at No. 1 doubles. Graduate student Chris Rübens and junior Dariy Vykhodtsev stayed even with the No. 10 in the Northeast doubles team, only barely falling 8-6 with a late break.
Singles
• Playing No. 1 singles for the first time this season, senior Max Schweitzer was matched up with the No. 21 ranked player in the Northeast as Babson extended their match lead to 4-0.
• Honnef had moments in a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 2 singles.
• Playing No. 3, Hovey stayed with his opponent throughout the first set, and despite losing 7-5, 6-1, this type of performance is promising for the first year.
• Pomann and Hurtado lost by identical 8-2 scores for the scarlet and white at No. 4 and 5 singles.
• Graduate student Josh Podolsky engaged in a back and forth duel at No. 6, serving down 5-4 before eventually losing 8-4 to give Babson a clean sweep.
