Box Score NEW LONDON, NH - Clark men's soccer (0-1) opened the 2022 campaign with a 4-1 loss to Colby-Sawyer (1-0) on Thursday afternoon from Kelsey Soccer Field.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Daniel Moura recorded Clark's first shot on goal of the season in the 13th minute, but the Colby-Sawyer keeper registered a save on the left side of the goal.
- The Chargers took the lead in the 18th minute off a shot from a free kick.
- Sophomore Colin Ruiz and the Cougars looked to find the equalizer as Ruiz fired three shots within a nine-minute span, but none were able to find the back of the net.
- In the 43rd minute, senior Ezekiel Palmer recorded a shot on goal that was saved and first-year Diego Marin registered his first career save in the 44th minute as the Chargers took a 1-0 advantage into the break.
- First-year Pietro Briguglio nearly tied the match in the 50th minute, but had his shot saved and the Chargers responded with a pair of goals to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Sophomore William Lopez netted Clark's first goal of the year in the 73rd minute off a nice feed from junior Teddy Donahue to make it a 4-1 contest.
- Donahue fired two more shots on target down the stretch and Briguglio put one on target, but none found the back of the net as Colby-Sawyer won 4-1.
