Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (1-4) played its senior day game today against Roger Williams (2-0-2) and fell 3-2 on Sunday afternoon from Granger Field.
Seniors Connor Fitzgerald, Ezekiel Palmer, Joshua Dunbar, Ethan Furphy, and Ryan Lynch were honored prior to the game for their contributions to Clark men's soccer.
How it Happened
- Dunbar attempted Clark's first shot of the game in the 14th minute as both defenses dominated play early and the Hawks nearly took a 1-0 lead on a shot from Javi Beltran that hit the crossbar in the 25th minute.
- Junior Andrew DiStefano recorded his first save of the game in the 36th minute on a shot from Beltran and saved another shot in the 45th minute on a dangerous chance from Jimmy Keane as the teams entered the half tied 0-0.
- First-year Mauro Perez Colon gave Clark a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute with a shot from the right side of the box that beat the goalie to his left.
- First-year Luke Sheldon nearly doubled the lead in the 52nd minute with a shot that was saved, but the Hawks tied the game at 1-1 in the 55th minute with a goal from Justin Horvath.
- After Roger Williams extended the lead to 2-1, first-year Diego Marin came up with three saves and sophomore William Lopez fired a shot on target in the 72nd minute that was saved.
- The Hawks extended their lead to 3-1 in the 79th minute, Clark responded with a goal of their own when Lopez put a shot on target that was saved and Palmer got to the ball and booted it into the goal in the 84th minute.
- Palmer created Clark's last shot attempt in the 87th minute, but the Hawks came away with a 3-2 win.
