ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Clark University men's cross country team began their 2022 campaign with a fifth-place finish at the 8th Annual Wheaton and Babson Season Opener event at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course on Friday night in the 5k event.

"Today was a great day for the Cougars! The team handled the shorter distances well! It was a hot course with rolling hills, but that proved no match for the Cougars! Both teams executed their race strategies throughout the race."
How it Happened
- Sophomore Evan Sucov placed first on the team with a time of 19:03.9 and 28th overall.
- Graduate student Ryan Ewanyk finished second on the team with a mark of 20:03.3, which placed 34th overall.
- Junior Samuel Norton (21:11.0) and senior Adam Liebell-McLean (22:23.5) placed third and fourth on the team and 40th and 41st respectively.
- Sophomore Jack Bronk made his collegiate debut and finished fifth among the Cougars with a mark of 22:35.1.
- Senior William Mahan (22:50.3) and sophomore Kevin Braunwart (23:35.9) rounded out the top seven for Clark.

Clark will compete again on Saturday, September 24 at the Bowdoin Invitational.
