Men's Tennis Opens Season With Loss to St. Joe's (Conn.)

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Clark men's tennis team (0-1) opened their 2022 campaign with a road match at St. Joe's (Conn.) (1-1) and fell 6-3 from the Elizabeth Ferry Speer Tennis Complex.

How it Happened

  • Senior Dariy Vykhodstev and first-year Graham Russo won their first doubles match of the year in number one play with an 8-0 win over Sze and Karpyuk.
  • First-years Sai Chanda and Fergus Brady captured their first career wins with a thrilling 8-6 win in number three doubles over Gavrylchuk and Haskins.
  • Sophomore Aiden Hurtado recorded a three-set come-from-behind win in number three singles with a 3-6, 6-3, and 1-0 (10-7) victory over Karpyuk.
  • Graduate student Holden Moore and senior Sam Pomann competed in number two doubles and fell 8-1.
  • Sophomore Ryan Hovey, Vykhodtsev, Chanda, senior Joshua Ofosu-Amoani, and Brady each competed in singles.

What's Next

Clark will return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Stonehill beginning at 3:30 p.m.
