WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's soccer team (7-3-3, 2-3-1 NEWMAC) played their first official NEWMAC game in program history against Salve Regina (3-5-4, 1-5-0 NEWMAC) and came away with a thrilling 3-1 win on Wednesday night from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- After the Seahawks took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, the scarlet and white answered 40 seconds later with a goal from sophomore Gabriella Herivaux in the middle of the box to tie the match at 1-1.
- Junior Anabella White recorded her first save of the match in the 21st minute off a shot from Hannah Daniewicz and in the 29th minute junior Isabella Ramirez received the ball in front of the goal off a feed from graduate student Jamie Stern, but had her shot stopped by Reagan Moffatt.
- Clark's final shot on goal of the half came in the 34th, when Stern put a shot on goal that was stopped as the match was tied 1-1 at the half.
- Herivaux nearly gave Clark the edge in the 48th minute, but has her shot stopped by Moffatt.
- Graduate student Emma Tziachris fired a shot on goal in the 58th minute that was saved, but in the 62nd minute, junior Andrea Mortimer serviced in a corner that found the head of Tziachris and the midfielder put the ball in the back of the net to give the Cougars a 2-1 edge.
- White registered a save in the 67th minute to keep the match tied and stopped another shot in the 75th minute.
- Herivaux extended the Clark edge to 3-1 in the 88th minute off a feed up the middle of the pitch from graduate student Siobhan Lounsbury as the Cougars came away with a 3-1 victory.
