Strong Third Quarter Leads Field Hockey to 3-0 Win Over UMass Dartmouth

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (5-11) played their final home match of the season on Tuesday night from Granger Field against UMass Dartmouth (3-13) and came away with a convincing 3-0 victory.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Elizabeth Cacciapaglia put a pair of shots on target within 10 seconds early in the first that were stopped by Hannah Trombly and in the seventh minute recorded another shot on goal that was saved.
  • Sophomore Alison Kopec and graduate student Abbe Cravinho continued to apply pressure in the eighth minute and had each shots saved and before the end of the first Cravinho created another chance that was stopped as the game remained tied at 0-0.
  • Sophomore Jenna Beauchain serviced in a pair of corners in the first two minutes of the second that were cleared by the Corsairs and senior Greer McCarty fired a shot on goal that was saved in the 20th minute as the Couagrs continued to apply pressure on UMass Dartmouth's backline.
  • Sophomore Fionnuala Gormley added four more shots on target before the half and senior Rachael Romain nearly got Clark on the board as the match was tied at 0-0 at the break.
  • Cacciapaglia broke the scoreless tie in the 32nd minute off a feed from Beauchain as the scarlet and white took a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 35th minute, Kopec sent a pass over to Gormley and Gormley found the back of the cage to put the Cougars up 2-0.
  • After two more Cacciapaglia shots were stopped, McCarty added to the Clark lead with a goal off a feed from Kopec to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
  • In the fourth, McCarty put two more shots on goal and Clark held the Corsairs without a shot on goal for the entirety of the match as they came away with a 3-0 victory.
