SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (16-11, 5-5 NEWMAC) traveled to Mount Holyoke (11-14, 1-9 NEWMAC) for their final road game of the season and after falling in the first set, rallied to win the last three sets to win 3-1 on Tuesday night from the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.
The Cougars fell 25-18 in the first set, then won the second set 25-9, the third set 25-18, and 25-20 in the final set.
How it Happened
- Clark trailed by as many as seven early in the first set before junior Camille Sterling and senior Victoria Pastor each recorded kills as the Cougars trailed 12-10.
- Graduate student Cameron Gill, senior Camille Flurry, Sterling, and Pastor registered kills over the rest of the set as Clark fell 25-18.
- The Cougars jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the second set sparked by kills from Sterling, Pastor, and Gill.
- Flurry registered back-to-back kills in the set and a service ace from junior Yvanna Torres extended the lead to 17-6 and Clark ended the set on an 8-3 run as Pastor tallied two kills and senior Sofia Scherrer del Llano added a kill as the Cougars won 25-9.
- The scarlet and white took a 13-6 lead in the third set as Gill recorded a pair of service aces, first-year Julia Dopazo also added a service ace, and Pastor registered two kills.
- Up 18-17, Clark ended the set on a 7-1 run as Scherrer del Llano recorded a pair of kills to help the Cougars win the set 25-18.
- Clark jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the fourth set as Torres registered a service ace, Scherrer del Llano and Flurry each added two kills.
- Gill registered a service ace and a Pastor kill helped spark a run that gave the Cougars a 17-11 edge before Flurry tallied a pair of kills and a Pastor spike ended the match as Clark took the final set 25-20.
Inside the Stats
- The Cougars recorded 51 kills, nine aces, six blocks, 104 digs, and dished out 49 assists.
- Pastor led the team with 15 kills and added 17 digs.
- Flurry added 13 kills.
- Sterling also reached double-digits with 10 kills and tallied five blocks.
- Torres dished out 25 assists and Dopazo added 14 assists.
- Liu led the team with 27 digs and Gill recorded 23 digs.
