NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Clark women's soccer team (6-3-2, 1-3-0 NEWMAC) traveled to Smith (3-3-3, 1-1-2 NEWMAC) for a midweek conference contest and fell 2-0 to the Pioneers on Wednesday afternoon from the Smith Soccer Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Anabella White registered a save in the third minute off a shot from Kayla Warner and in the seventh minute, sophomore Jayme Brown put a shot on goal that was stopped by Noemi Howland to keep the match tied at 0-0.
- White came away with two more saves over the next 10 minutes of play and over a six-minute stretch, the scarlet and white earned three corner kicks.
- After the Pioneers got on the board, Brown and sophomore Gabriella Herivaux each put shots on target that were stopped.
- Brown nearly tied the match in the 51st minute after putting a shot on goal off a corner kick and on the ensuing corner kick, Brown missed the mark to the left.
- Graduate student Siobhan Lounsbury created Clark's best chance of the second half in the 70th minute after getting behind the Pioneer backline, but Howland registered a save on the shot attempt.
- Junior Ashlee Samuel sent a shot out of play to the right in the 76th minute before the Pioneers added a second goal.
