Balanced Offensive Attack Pushes Men's Basketball Past Baruch

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Clark men's basketball (3-0) traveled to Baruch (2-2) for their first road contest of the 2023-24 season and a balanced offensive attack helped the Cougars come away with a 92-84 win over the Bearcats on Saturday afternoon from Arc Arena.

How it Happened
  • Baruch jumped out to an early 11-4 lead despite made buckets from junior Kekoa McArdle and sophomore Reid Neumann before the scarlet and white, but four unanswered McArdle points cut the deficit to 11-8.
  • First-year Quentin Pridgen then buried a three-pointer and a triple from junior Ian Calabrese tied the game at 16-16 with 11:29 to go in the first half.
  • Down two, junior Isaiah Taylor hit a three-pointer and a layup from first-year Christopher Clarke gave the Cougars a 21-18 edge.
  • Taylor and senior Jordan Richard traded buckets with the Bearcats and a made triple with 6:14 remaining in the half extended the advantage to 30-25.
  • After the teams traded points, McArdle made another layup to take a six-point lead and another three from O'Brien made it a 43-36 game as Clark would take a 43-38 lead into the locker room.
  • Baruch cut the deficit to one early in the second half, but Taylor responded with a made three-pointer off a feed from junior Bruce Saintilus and a triple from Neumann gave Clark a 51-46 edge.
  • Richard and McArdle combined to score Clark's next five points and a made triple from Pridgen extended the lead to nine at 59-50 with 15:08 remaining.
  • O'Brien, Pridgen, and Taylor each hit three's, with Taylor's going down as an and-one to push the edge to 69-56.
  • Calabrese connected on another triple with 10:28 to go off a feed from Saintilus to go up by 14, but the Bearcats fought back to within six before Richard hit a triple with 4:57 remaining to give Clark a 76-67 lead.
  • Richard hit another three and a layup from Pridgen with 3:45 to go pushed the lead back up to 10 at 81-71 before the team's started trading buckets and Baruch got as close as six from the lead twice, but four free throws from O'Brien and two from Neumann sealed the game for Clark, winning 92-84.
