Women's Basketball Cruises to 88-50 Victory Against Sarah Lawrence

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (4-0) hosted their home-opener and play with pride game on Saturday afternoon when they welcomed Sarah Lawrence (1-2) to the Kneller and came away with a convincing 88-50 victory over the Gryphons.

How it Happened
  • Clark opened the game on a 13-0 run sparked by a pair of made three's from first-year Kailey Rios, a first-year Emma Drefs buried triple and made free throws by seniors Jacqueline Faulise and Alaina Schatzabel as Sarah Lawrence didn't record a point within the first five minutes of play.
  • First-year Catherine Antwi made a fast break layup and a three-pointer from junior Kumi Tamura gave the scarlet and white an 18-7 lead after one quarter of action.
  • The Cougars scored the first six points of the second led by four from Rios and a Schatzabel layup to take a 24-7 edge and a made layup off a steal from Rios gave Clark a 29-8 lead.
  • Antwi found Tamura with 2:38 left in the first half and Tamura buried a three and another triple from Tamura before the break gave the Cougars a 40-16 advantage.
  • Schatzabel scored four points early in the third quarter and a made three from Drefs pushed the lead to 51-22 with 6:56 to go in the third.
  • Drefs then converted an and-one and found first-year Olivia Shipley for a layup to take a 59-28 lead and Shipley added four more points before the end of the quarter as the Cougars took a 71-33 edged into the fourth.
  • In the fourth, Antwi scored six points, Schatzabel added four, Tamura netted three, and Faulise and Zambrano also scored as Clark registered a commanding 88-50 win.

  • Clark grabbed 55 rebounds, dished out 19 assists, and forced 38 turnovers.
  • Tamura scored a team-leading 19 points and made five three-pointers.
  • Drefs and Rios also added 14 points.
  • Antwi (13) and Schatzabel (11) also reached double-figures, while Antwi also added five steals.
  • Faulise recorded a team-leading 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Clark will be back in action on Tuesday night with a home game against Wesleyan beginning at 6:00 p.m. from the Kneller Gymnasium.
