NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Clark men's tennis team (1-5, 0-1 NEWMAC) opened conference play with a road match at Coast Guard (2-4, 1-1 NEWMAC) and were edged 8-1 by the Bears on Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened
- Senior Dariy Vykhodtsev and first-year Graham Russo teamed up in number one doubles and won four games, but were edged 8-4 by Charles Norman and Banks Evans.
- Junior Tanner Honnef and sophomore Ryan Hovey played number two doubles together and were edged 8-2 by Myles Decoste and Paul Choi.
- In number three doubles, first-year Sai Chanda and sophomore Aidan Hurtado won a pair of games, but dropped their match 8-2 to James Vuille-Kowing and Logan De Los Santos.
- Senior Matt Lee recorded Clark's lone victory in singles as he topped De Los Santos 6-3, 6-4 in number five singles.
- Honnef (No. 2) and Chanda (No. 6) each won three games over two sets, but fell 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
- Hovey competed in number four singles and collected four total games across two sets before falling 6-2, 6-2.
- Vykhodtsev played in number one singles and was edged 6-2, 6-0.
- In number three singles, Russo fell 6-0, 6-0.
What's Next
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday with a road contest against Babson beginning at 3:30 p.m.
