Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (3-12) traveled across town to Worcester State (10-6) and battled for two games with the Lancers, but fell in both games on Tuesday night from Rockwood Park.
Game One: Worcester State 8, Clark 3
- Senior Eliza Lindberg drew a walk in the top of the first, but was left on base after a pair of flyouts to center field.
- After the Lancers added three runs in the bottom of the first, Clark's offense struck with three runs to tie the game at 3-3,
- Junior Samantha Crowley drove in a run with a groundout to first that scored senior Reilly Bronson, junior Rebecca Mauro drove in senior Allessia Mauro with a single to left, and first-year Felicia Salvati singled to drive in Mauro.
- Worcester State took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third and added another run in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to make it 5-3.
- Salvati doubled to open the top of the sixth and reached third, but was left on third to end the inning.
- The Lancers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and in the top of the seventh, first-year Ella Traynor and Rebecca Mauro each reached base in the top of the seventh before Worcester State got out of the jam to win 8-3.
- Mauro and Salvati each record two hits and drove in a run.
Game Two: Worcester State 5, Clark 4
- First-year Erin Slavin singled in the top of the first, but was left on base before the Lancers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
- Traynor, graduate student Kaylee Gibson, and Allessia Mauro each reached base in the top of the second to load the bases, but again Worcester State got out of the jam.
- After a scoreless inning pitched by first-year Brooke Buzzeo, the Lancers plated three runs in the bottom of the third to extend the edge to 5-0.
- Clark fought back with four runs in the top of the fourth as Traynor doubled and scored on a wild pitch, first-year Emelie Spence recorded an RBI single, Crowley registered an RBI double, and Slavin hit a sacrifice fly that plated graduate student Jessica Martin.
- Buzzeo tossed a scoreless fourth, fifth, and sixth inning and in the top of the seventh, Salvati got on base with a walk drawn, but was left on base as Clark fell 5-4.
- Traynor recorded a pair of hits and drove in a run.
- Crowley, Slavin, and Spence each recorded RBI's.

The Cougars will start NEWMAC play on Saturday with a road doubleheader at Wheaton beginning at 12:00 p.m.
