Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (4-25, 0-10 NEWMAC) closed out a four-game weekend with a pair of games against Wellesley (4-17-1, 2-6 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon and dropped both games to the Blue from O'Brien Field.
Game One: Wellesley 4, Clark 2
- Senior Jessica Sardilli tossed a scoreless first inning and in the bottom of the first, first-year Felicia Salvati hit a ball to left field that plated junior Rebecca Mauro and gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
- Sardilli pitched another scoreless inning in the second and in the top of the third, Wellesley tied the game at 1-1.
- Sardilli tossed a scoreless fourth and fifth innings before the Blue plated three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.
- Junior Samantha Crowley walked in the bottom of the sixth and came around to score on a single to right center off a hit from Mauro to make it a 4-2 game.
- First-year Keira Langus retired the side in order in the top of the seventh and in the bottom of the seventh, Clark was retired in order as the Blue came away with a 4-2 win.
Game Two: Wellesley 8, Clark 0 (F/5)
- Wellesley jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first and in the bottom half, Crowley drew a walk, but was unable to score.
- The Blue plated six runs in the top of the second and in the top of the third, first-year Brooke Buzzeo tossed a scoreless inning.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Salvati doubled to right center with two outs, but the Blue got out of the jam.
- After another scoreless inning pitched by Buzzeo, first-years Alyssa Briggs and Caitriona Andre singled before the Blue were able to record the final two outs of the game.
What's Next
The Cougars will return to the field on Friday with a NEWMAC doubleheader at Emerson beginning at 3:00 p.m.
