No. 5 Men's Tennis Edged by No. 4 Coast Guard in NEWMAC Quarterfinals

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The No. 5 Clark men's tennis team (4-10) traveled to No. 4 Coast Guard (6-8) for the NEWMAC Quarterfinals, but were edged 5-0 by the Bears on Wednesday afternoon from the Coast Guard Tennis Courts.

How it Happened

  • Senior Dariy Vykhodtsev and first-year Graham Russo battled with Myles Decote and Charles Norman in number one doubles, but were edged 8-1 by the Bears.
  • Senior Matt Lee and sophomore Ryan Hovey won four games in number two doubles against Banks Evans and James Vuille-Kowing, but dropped the match 8-4.
  • Graduate student Max Schweitzer and sophomore Aidan Hurtado were edged 8-4 in number three doubles against Benjamin Carlander and Logan De Los Santos as the Bears took a 3-0 lead into singles play.
  • Hovey won a game across two sets in number three singles, but fell 6-0, 6-1 in number three singles.
  • The Bears clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win in number one singles against Vykhodtsev.
