Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (5-28, 1-13 NEWMAC) traveled across town for their final road series of the year and dropped a pair of games to WPI (18-14, 10-4 NEMWAC) on Saturday afternoon from Rooftop Field.
Game One: WPI 10, Clark 4
- Junior Samantha Crowley walked and junior Rebecca Mauro doubled to left center in the top of the first to get runners on second and third before the Engineers got out of the jam.
- After WPI took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Clark stormed back to take the lead in the top of the third as Mauro belted a two-RBI double to right field, scoring Crowley and first-year Emelie Spence and graduate student Kaylee Gibson singled to right, scoring Mauro to take a 3-2 edge.
- WPI regained the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the third and the Engineers added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
- Mauro and first-year Felicia Salvati each singled in the top of the fifth, but were unable to come around to score.
- Down 8-3, Mauro drove in her third run of the game in the top of the sixth with a single to center field that scored sophomore Ashleigh Hughes to make it an 8-4 contest.
Game Two: WPI 1, Clark 0
- Graduate student Eliza Lindberg singled to shortstop in the top of the first before WPI got out of the inning and first-year Keira Langus pitched a scoreless bottom of the first for the Cougars.
- Spence and Crowley each reached base in the top of the third, but were unable to score and the Engineers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third off a base hit.
- Langus tossed a scoreless fourth, fifth, and sixth inning before Salvati singled in the top of the seventh, reached second, but the Engineers recorded three straight outs to win the game.

The Cougars will return to the field on Friday with a home doubleheader against Smith beginning at 3:00 p.m.
