How it Happened

  • Sophomore Fionnuala Gormley put the Cougars first shot of the year on goal in the 13th minute, but had it saved by Madison Ferrara as the game remained tied 0-0 after one quarter of action.
  • Cacciapaglia nearly gave Clark the lead two minutes into the second quarter, but had her shot saved before firing another one in on target in the 19th minute off a feed from sophomore Jenna Beauchain that hit the post and senior Greer McCarty put the ball into the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
  • McCarty put another shot on goal in the 22nd minute and Gormley nearly added to the lead in the 25th minute, but Ferrara made a pair of saves as Clark led 1-0 at the half.
  • In the third quarter, Gormley and sophomore Alison Kopec each put shots on target as Clark dominated possession and sophomore Loren Root registered her first save of the year as the scarlet and white led 1-0 heading into the fourth.
  • The Lancers tied the game at 1-1 with less than 12 minutes to go in the fourth off a goal from Grace Adams.
  • Clark responded with the equalizer as Gormley put a shot on goal that was saved, but followed up the shot to beat Ferrara as the Cougars took a 2-1 edge with less than eight minutes to go.
