BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (2-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) opened NEWMAC play with a game at No. 3 Babson (6-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) and fell 7-0 to the Beavers on Friday night from MacDowell Field.
- Sophomore Loren Root earned the start in goal for Clark and recorded a pair of saves within the first two minutes of the match on shots from Sinead Walsh and Jessica Evans.
- After the Beavers took a 1-0 lead, Root recorded four more saves before Babson extended the lead to 2-0 before the end of the first quarter.
- Root registered four saves in the second quarter and Babson added a goal early in the second as the Beavers took a 3-0 edge into the half.
- Root came away with four more saves in the third quarter and sophomore Ciaran Cubbage put a shot on target that was stopped by Bayla Furmanek.
- Root stopped five shots in the fourth quarter.
