Men's Soccer Edged by Wheaton in NEWMAC Opener

NORTON, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (1-3-2, 0-1-0 NEWMAC) traveled to Wheaton (1-1-3, 1-0-0 NEWMAC) for their NEWMAC opener and fell 1-0 to the Lyons on Sunday afternoon from Keefe Field.

How it Happened
  • Senior Andrew DiStefano recorded three saves over the first 18 minutes of the match and junior William Lopez fired a shot in the first minute of the match that went high.
  • DiStefano saved a header off a corner in the 32nd minute and registered another save before the half of a 0-0 tie in a defensive battle.
  • Junior Lucas Saia nearly gave Clark the lead in the 60th minute with a shot that went just right of the mark.
  • In the 74th minute, DiStefano stopped a shot from Alberto Franceschi, but Max Strong was there to follow the shot up and put it in the back of the net to go up 1-0.
  • DiStefano registered two more saves to keep it a one goal deficit and in the 84th minute, Michael O'Gara recorded a save on a shot from first-year Kofi Poku as the Lyons recorded a 1-0 win.
