Shepherd-Johnson, Hovey, and Hurtado All Win in Singles/Doubles in 6-3 Victory Over Colby-Sawyer

Box Score NEW LONDON, NH – The Clark men's tennis team (2-1) played their third match of the season against Colby-Sawyer (0-2) and came away with a 6-3 victory on Wednesday afternoon from the Kelsey Tennis Courts.

How it Happened
  • First-years Edward Shepherd-Johnson and Aris Kirkorian opened the day with their second win of the year in number one doubles, coming away with an 8-6 victory.
  • Juniors Ryan Hovey and Aidan Hurtado also picked up a doubles win with a convincing 8-4 win in number three action.
  • Senior Tanner Honnef and sophomore Graham Russo won a pair of games in number two doubles, but fell 8-2 as Clark took a 2-1 lead into singles play.
  • Shepherd-Johnson came away with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win in number one singles.
  • Hurtado competed in number five singles and recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
  • First-year Adam Seraj clinched the match for the scarlet and white with a 6-4, 6-2 win in number six action.
  • Hovey battled for three sets in number four play and after dropping the first set 6-3, took the next two sets 6-1 and 10-4.
  • Russo competed in number three singles and after falling 7-5 in the first set, he took the second set 7-5, but was edged 10-4 in the deciding set.
  • Honnef won a combined four games across his two sets in number two play, but was edged 6-3, 6-1.
What's Next
The scarlet and white will be back on the court on Saturday with a road match at Nichols beginning at 11:00 a.m.
