Three First Half Goals Guide Women's Soccer Past Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Clark women's soccer team (6-1-1) netted three first half goals to help guide the scarlet and white to a 3-0 victory over Framingham State (1-6-0) on Wednesday afternoon from Maple Street Field.  

How it Happened
  • First-year Ainsley Golini and senior Julia Dantzler each put shots on target over the first 11 minutes of action that were saved by Jetta Oskirko.
  • First-year Gabrielle Huryn recorded her first career save in goal in the 16th minute and registered another save in the 23rd minute off a shot from Melissa Romeiro.
  • Sophomore Mia Tewes found graduate student Siobhan Lounsbury up the field in the 25th minute and Lounsbury put the ball in the back of the net to give Clark a 1-0 edge.
  • Sophomore Gabriella Herivaux put up the Cougars second goal of the match in the 37th minute off a feed from Lounsbury to give the Cougars a 2-0 advantage.
  • After another Huryn save, graduate student Emma Tziachris extended the lead to 3-0 with a shot off a pass from Herivaux as Clark took a 3-0 lead into the half.
  • Huryn recorded two saves over the first 20 minutes of the second half to keep the lead at 3-0 and Herivaux nearly added a fourth goal, but had her shot saved.
  • Junior Cassandra Trevino put the Cougars final shot on target in the 88th minute that was stopped as Clark recorded their sixth shutout of the season.

  • Clark attempted 21 shots, with 10 going on goal and attempted five corner kicks.
  • Lounsbury netted her fourth goal of the season, and 14th of her career and dished out her fourth career helper.
  • Herivaux scored her first goal of the year, and seventh as a Cougar and recorded her second career assist.
  • Tziachris netted her ninth career goal and Tewes registered her first career assist.
  • Huryn recorded six saves in goal.
What's Next
Clark will return to action on Saturday afternoon with a home NEWMAC match against MIT beginning at 1:00 p.m. The match will be dedicated as a Lymphoma Awareness Game.
