Women's Soccer Drops NEWMAC Match Against No. 23 MIT

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's soccer team (6-2-1, 1-2-0 NEWMAC) welcomed MIT (7-1-1, 3-0-0 NEWMAC) to Granger in a NEWMAC clash and fell 3-0 to the Engineers in the team's Lymphoma Awareness game on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • MIT got on the board early in the match after a save from junior Anabella White bounced off the crossbar and found the foot of Natalie Barnouw to give the Engineers a 1-0 edge.
  • Graduate student Emma Tziachris nearly tied the match at 1-1 in the 13th minute, but had her shot attempt saved by Morgan Everett.
  • The Engineers took a two goal lead in the 23rd minute when Barnouw tallied her second goal of the afternoon.
  • White came away with three critical saves before the half within a one-minute stretch to keep the deficit to two goals.
  • Graduate student Jamie Stern and junior Isabella Ramirez each created chances early in the second half that were stopped by Everett.
  • White recorded two more saves within the next five minutes of play and junior Andrea Mortimer put a shot just wide in the 69th minute.
  • MIT added their third goal in the 71st minute, White recorded one more save down the stretch and Stern registered a defensive save as the Engineers came away with a 3-0 win.
