Men's Soccer Draws 1-1 in First Road Match of Season at WNE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (1-0-1) played their first road match of the 2023 season and tied with the Golden Bears of WNE (0-0-2) 1-1 on Sunday afternoon from Suprenant Field.

How it Happened
  • Junior Tyler Manley recorded a shot early in the first half that went just high and fellow junior Zachary Kratz put a shot on target in the second minute that was saved.
  • Junior William Lopez nearly gave Clark a 1-0 lead in the third minute of action, but saw his shot saved.
  • Fellow junior Lucas Saia hit the crossbar in the eighth minute as Clark's offense continued to apply early pressure, but the Golden Bears took a 1-0 edge in the 26th minute off a goal from Matt Spruill.
  • Sophomore Ben Siegel took a pair of shots before the half and Manley sent in a penalty kick that was saved by Brayden Casinghino in the 40th minute as Clark trailed 1-0 at the break.
  • Junior Colin Ruiz nearly tied the match in the 60th minute, but had his shot saved to keep it a 1-0 contest.
  • Kratz put a shot on target that was saved and in the 65th minute, before sophomore Mauro Perez Colon registered a goal off a feed from Lopez to tie the match at 1-1.
  • With Clark playing a man down over the final eight minutes of play, senior Andrew DiStefano recorded a save in the 89th minute to help the scarlet and white secure a 1-1 draw.

  • Perez Colon recorded his first goal of the season and second of his career.
