Antwi Nets Career-High 25 Points in 74-60 Win Against Wheaton

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (13-5, 3-1 NEWMAC) hosted Wheaton (9-9, 1-3 NEWMAC) on Wednesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium and came away with a 74-60 win over the Lyons led by a career-high 25 points from first-year Catherine Antwi.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars jumped out to an early 10-6 lead sparked by four points from Antwi as well as two points from seniors Jacqueline Faulise and Alaina Schatzabel and graduate student Sarah Zambrano.
  • Faulise added a triple and points from Antwi and fellow first-year Olivia Shipley made it a 17-16 lead in favor of the visitors after one quarter of action.
  • Clark scored five unanswered to begin the second as first-years Kailey Rios and Emma Drefs each scored as the Cougars led 21-17 with 7:07 to go in the second.
  • Faulise and Schatzabel each hit a pair of free throws before four unanswered from Antwi helped the Cougars extend their edge to 29-23 with 3:51 remaining in the period.
  • Antwi added five more points before the half and points from senior Alexis Ross and junior Megan Swedberg helped Clark take a 38-30 lead into the locker room.
  • Schatzabel scored six of Clark's first seven points to open the second half as the scarlet and white held a 45-38 lead before a triple from Madeline Duwe cut the edge to 45-41 with 4:09 left in the third.
  • After the Lyons cut the deficit to three, Faulise and Ross both scored before the end of the period as Clark possessed a 51-47 lead heading into the fourth.
  • Faulise and Antwi scored the first four points of the fourth and a made triple from Antwi with 8:32 remaining extended the Clark advantage to 58-49.
  • Shipley and Rios combined for the Cougars next five points to push the edge to 63-51 before six unanswered points from the Lyons cut the deficit to 63-57 with 4:34 to go.
  • Schatzabel and Antwi scored the contest's next five points to push the lead to double-digits at 68-57 with 2:36 remaining.
  • Rios, Ross, and Antwi combined to score Clark's final six points of the game as the Cougars came away with a 74-60 win.
Inside the Box Score
  • Clark grabbed 34 rebounds, dished out 14 assists, registered 16 steals, and forced 31 turnovers.
  • Antwi led the way with 25 points on 9-14 shooting and added four steals.
  • Faulise added 14 points, seven rebounds, and a team-leading five assists.
  • Schatzabel also reached double-figures with 12 points and pulled down four rebounds.

Clark will return to action on Saturday afternoon for a home contest from the Kneller beginning at 2:00 p.m. against Emerson.
