WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (3-9-0, 0-5-0 NEWMAC) welcomed WPI (6-2-4, 3-0-2 NEWMAC) to Granger in a crosstown matchup and despite striking first, conceded two goals in a 2-1 loss to the Engineers on Saturday afternoon.
What Happened
- Senior Anabella White stopped Reese Pszenny's shot attempt in the third minute before senior Isabella Ramirez fired a shot on goal that was saved and fellow senior Isabel Echeverry followed up the play with a shot that found the back of the net in the 18th minute as Clark led 1-0.
- White recorded her second shot of the match in the 22nd minute off a shot from Madisyn Bagby before the Engineers tied the match at 1-1 in the 39th minute when Fiona Prendergast found Mia Gilmore.
- First-year Georgia Louis fired a shot that was blocked before the half and out of the break, White tallied a save off an attempt from Lily Guiliano.
- Maeve Steckley gave the Engineers a 2-1 advantage in the 61st minute with a shot that beat White to the near post and in the 86th minute, junior Cassidy Hubbard created Clark's final scoring chance of the match with a header that went high off a service in from senior Cassandra Trevino.
