NEWPORT, R.I. – The Clark University women's soccer team (3-9-1, 0-5-1 NEWMAC) traveled to Salve Regina (2-9-3, 1-2-3 NEWMAC) and played to a 1-1 draw as senior
Cassandra Trevino provided the game-tying goal in the 72nd minute on Wednesday afternoon from Reynolds Field.
What Happened
- Salve Regina got on the board and took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute with a shot from outside the box off the foot of Hannah Daneiwicz.
- First-year Selene Hammad serviced in a pair of corner kicks within the first 10 minutes, with the first ball sent in resulting in a blocked shot from sophomore Isabella Ramirez.
- First-year Georgia Louis created the Cougars first shot on goal in the 16th minute that was saved by Reagan Moffatt and shortly after, Ramirez saw her shot get stopped by Moffatt.
- Louis created two more chances before the end of the first half from outside of the box that were stopped by Moffatt as the Seahawks took a 1-0 lead into the half.
- Trevino nearly tied the match early in the second half with a shot on goal that was saved before fellow senior Anabella White stopped a pair of shots.
- The Cougars offense continued to apply pressure in the middle of the second half as Hammad and senior Ashlee Samuel each attempted shots before Trevino found a bouncing ball in the box in the 72nd minute and fired it into the top corner of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
- White registered two saves in the 81st minute before the Seahawks earned a penalty shot, but Daniewicz put the ball high of the net.
- Hammad created the Cougars final chance of the match in the 87th minute with a shot that was stopped by Moffatt as the teams played to a 1-1 draw.
