WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (3-9-2, 0-5-2 NEWMAC) rallied to tie the match when first-year
Georgia Louis scored in the 84th minute against Wellesley (5-6-3, 1-4-2 NEWMAC) as the teams played to a 1-1 draw from the Wellesley Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.
What Happened
- Senior Anabella White recorded her first save of the match in the ninth minute off a shot from Carrie Huang and in the 11th minute Louis fired a shot on goal that was stopped by Riley McNair.
- Senior Cassandra Trevino and junior Gabriella Herivaux created chances in the middle of the first half that were saved by McNair before Ariel Moncrief gave the Blue a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute.
- Herivaux and first-year Madeleine Reeves each nearly tied the match before the half with shots on goal that were stopped as Wellesley led 1-0 at the half.
- White record a save early in the second half off a shot from Reika Ishibe and in the 64th minute senior Isabella Ramirez had a shot saved on the bottom right corner of the net.
- Junior Emma Shaughnessy, sophomore Ainsley Golini, and senior Isabel Echeverry each put shots on goal that were stopped as the Cougars continued to apply constant offensive pressure.
- After a save from White in the 84th minute, the Cougars countered with a goal off the boot of Louis as Clark played to a 1-1 draw.
