WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (6-8, 1-5 NEWMAC) welcomed MIT (11-3, 6-0 NEWMAC) to Granger for their Morgan's Message Game and fell 5-0 to the Engineers on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Rachel Reiter recorded three saves early in the contest before Eva Oppenheim gave the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of play.
- MIT added to their advantage in the eighth minute to 2-0 when Audrey Oh scored off a feed from Ashley Lederman.
- Reiter stopped four more shots before the end of the first quarter and the Cougar defense cleared four penalty corners from the Engineers.
- Junior Jenna Beauchain sent in a penalty corner in the 19th minute that found graduate student Rachael Romain, with Romain's shot being fired wide of the target.
- Reiter recorded four more saves in the second, but Ingrid Tomovski and Bailey McIntyre each scored as MIT led 4-0 at the half.
- Clark's defense only allowed two corners in the third and junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia attempted a shot off a corner that was blocked in the middle of the quarter.
- Junior Morgan Brown and Romain each put shots on goal in the fourth off corners that were saved and Reiter stopped six shots as Clark fell 5-0.
