Men's Soccer Topped by Salve Regina on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (4-6-4, 0-4-1 NEWMAC) hosted their senior day game against Salve Regina (7-7-1, 2-1-1 NEWMAC) and rallied to tie the match, but later conceded a goal as the Seahawks recorded a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.

Seniors Zachary Kratz, Tyler Manley, Colin Ruiz, William Lopez, and Lucas Saia were honored prior to the match for their contributions to the men's soccer program.

How it Happened
  • Saia nearly got the Cougars on the board in the fourth minute off a free kick, but saw his shot saved by Adonis Santiago.
  • Saia and Lopez each serviced in a pair of corners that were cleared away before Lopez put a shot on target in the 17th minute that was stopped.
  • Junior Diego Marin recorded his first save of the match in the 25th minute off a shot from Aaron Muncaster and Lopez fired another shot on goal that was saved in the 33rd minute.
  • Marin stopped Daniel Goba's shot before the half as the teams were tied at 0-0 before junior Ben Siegel created a chance early in the second half that was saved.
  • Marin recorded two more saves early in the second half before Emmet Schuele gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute.
  • Manley responded in the 67th minute with a goal that got past Santiago and in the 74th minute, Ruiz nearly gave Clark the lead before seeing his shot stopped.
  • Marin tallied two more saves before Salve clinched the victory in the 85th minute when Goba found the back of the net as the Seahawks won 2-1.

  • Manley scored his second goal of the season and fourth as a Cougar.
